John won 6-3 and 6-3.  David won 21-9 and 6-4.  Both will now wrestle Friday morning.  Lose and they're out, win and you're on the Medal Stand Saturday night!

John Helton is a 138 lb State Qualifier and David Helton is a 152 lb State Qualifier!

From SA Wrestling:

We have 10 high school wrestlers and 18 MS wrestlers, 10 8th graders, this year. We have 4 seniors who are leading the way and are all looking to qualify for the state tourney. Coach Colton Lear joins us this year, as the head MS coach and helping with the high school.

The state qualifying format has changed. There is no more Sectionals. There is only one District tourney. There will be 24 state qualifiers instead of the normal 16 for a 16 man bracket. So, there will be 12 districts in the state, 2 kids per district qualify. We will be at Riverside for ours Feb. 11.

We will encourage every wrestler and help them to reach their vocational, spiritual, and educational goals by teaching them the mentalities of discipline, hard-work, and teamwork that are required of wrestling, which will help them develop from boys and girls into young men and women of God.

Catholic Identity- We have Mass for the team at the beginning of the season and at least once during. We pray to end each practice and before each competition. We search for, and participate in, a service event each season, such as moving St. Patrick church’s cobblestones.
