Cindy and I had a wonderful day yesterday in Birmingham. The day went fast so there really wasn't a time to sit and talk with Jackson.

The USFL has 8 teams and all of their games at Protective Stadium in Birmingham Alabama. There are 4 games each week. The game we attended Sunday was the Philadelphia Stars against the Birmingham Stallions. The Stallions are undefeated and many commented that they do have a great home team advantage with most fans at their games.

Jackson (SA 2015) was drafted by the Stars and plays on the offensive line - usually left tackle.
We were passing through Birmingham and reached out to Jackson's mom - Jen Brown (SA 1990) to see how we would connect with Jackson. As luck would have it, Jen was in Birmingham for the game and Cindy and I spent most of the day with her.

He split playing time with another tackle - but - both touchdowns were plays through his slot on the line.

(An interesting note - the USFL has a cameraman in the backfield on most plays. This guy is impressive - he puts on more yards than anyone else on the field).

The Stars took an early lead and were ahead 17-14 at halftime. Unfortunately their offense sputtered in the second half and they ended  up with a 30-17 loss. We still had fun on a wonderful sunny and warm Alabama day.


We had a great after-game dinner and finished off 8 pizzas. Down the left side is Jen, Jackson, Cindy and me.

Jackson attributes his size and strength to all the great lunches he had at SA. Here he is with former lunchlady Cindy.
